Benidorm City Council has introduced Activa-t Fest Benidorm as an initiative to promote active and healthy ageing, under the slogan “Your health, our goal”, with a varied, free programme aimed at people aged 50+. The project will run over three months, with regular activities always led by specialist instructors.
So, what can you expect? A wide-ranging calendar that mixes gentler options with others that are a bit more dynamic, always with a tailored approach. You’ll find activities such as group walks and routes, hiking (including sunset routes), swimming and aqua gym, yoga for older adults, Pilates at different times, tai chi and chi kung, adapted running, Zumba Gold and sports dancing, light weights, orienteering, adapted padel, pétanque (in parks and on the beach) and even kayaking. Activities take place across different spots in the city, including the Palau d’Esports, Foietes Park, El Moralet, Serra Gelada, Parc de la Séquia Mare, the Guillermo Amor Sports City, Tossal de La Cala, and Levante and Poniente beaches.
One of the things that makes it especially convenient for visitors is that it doesn’t stick to “classes” in a single venue — it uses Benidorm as the backdrop: seafront walks, urban parks, outdoor fitness areas and natural surroundings. Activa-t Fest includes a free sports-coach service at various outdoor fitness points around the city, offering guidance on exercising safely, answering questions about levels, and helping you get into the programme.
