At Climia Hotels, sustainability is part of who we are and how we understand hospitality. This commitment means integrating efficient technologies, actively protecting natural resources and moving towards a hospitality model that contributes positively to the environment. Everything we do is guided by an ongoing process of improvement and responsibility, with the aim of offering every guest an experience that is fully comfortable and, at the same time, respectful of the planet.
Energy efficiency
Installing photovoltaic systems allows us to harness solar energy and monitor consumption in real time, reducing CO₂ emissions and delivering energy savings of between 10% and 15%. Around 80% of the hotel is already fitted with LED lighting, which significantly reduces consumption. We also provide electric vehicle charging points under the MOVES III scheme and are expanding our infrastructure with new fast-charging units to encourage more sustainable mobility.
Optimised consumption in rooms and communal areas
In guest rooms, we use key cards and smart cut-off switches that turn off the power when guests leave, preventing unnecessary use. In communal areas, motion-sensor lighting ensures energy is only used when needed. Installing revolving doors in the lobby of Climia Belroy improves thermal insulation and helps reduce heat loss.
Responsible waste management
We provide recycling points for guests in different areas of the hotel and apply an internal policy that covers all departments. We recycle paper and cardboard, plastic, glass, toner cartridges, lighting equipment and batteries, and we encourage the use of returnable packaging to reduce the amount of waste generated. This comprehensive approach helps us move towards a more circular and responsible model.
Eco-friendly products and processes
Having our own laundry on site allows us to optimise processes and reduce transport-related emissions. We encourage the reuse of towels and bed linen through clear signage in our rooms, helping to cut water and energy consumption. We have replaced single-use miniatures with gel and shampoo dispensers, introduced amenities in biodegradable packaging, and prioritise seasonal produce—ensuring freshness while reducing the transport footprint. At buffet entrances, we also remind guests of the importance of responsible consumption to help minimise food waste.
Water management and conservation
In public toilets, proximity-sensor taps shut off automatically to prevent unnecessary use. In guest rooms, dual-flush cisterns (3 and 4.5 litres) help optimise day-to-day water consumption. In addition, a smart irrigation system continually adjusts the amount of water needed for our gardens.
Reducing our carbon footprint
Our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint is reflected in the many green areas around the hotel, with a wide variety of plants and species that naturally help counterbalance emissions. We also take part in the Bioscore certification programme, which assesses areas such as energy efficiency, waste management, responsible use of natural resources and sustainable labour practices. This work is complemented by the GreenHost project—an initiative designed to raise guest awareness about offsetting the carbon footprint generated during their travel and stay.
Commitment to the local community
As part of our corporate social responsibility approach, we maintain a strong commitment to our immediate surroundings. We prioritise locally sourced products, reducing transport-related emissions and supporting local suppliers. Today, 80% of the products we use come from the same region, strengthening our integration into the local economy.
