At Climia Hotels, we believe that caring for our guests also means caring for the destination we share. Therefore, in line with our Corporate Social Responsibility policy, we are joining “The Room That Cleans the Sea”, an initiative led by ECO-ONE in collaboration with Gravity Wave, which allows our guests to take part in the cleaning of the Mediterranean Sea in a simple way.
The initiative is born from a simple gesture with a great impact: when a guest voluntarily decides to give up the cleaning of their room, Climia Hotels commits to contributing to the removal of 1 kg of plastic from the sea.
During their stay, guests can place a door hanger on their room door indicating that they do not wish to receive the cleaning service that day. In return for this gesture, our team records their participation and Climia Hotels contributes to removing plastic from the marine ecosystem.

With this action, which begins as a pilot project, Climia Hotels reinforces its commitment to moving towards a more conscious way of travelling, capable of leaving a positive footprint. A way of understanding tourism that not only seeks to reduce its environmental impact, but also to generate positive effects in the destination. The Mediterranean is part of our identity and of the experience we offer in our hotels; caring for it is a shared responsibility and a way of protecting what makes our surroundings unique.
This project is developed together with ECO-ONE, a company specialising in hotel sustainability, and Gravity Wave, an organisation founded in Spain with the purpose of cleaning seas and oceans of plastic. Gravity Wave works in collaboration with local fishermen to remove waste from the sea and give it a second life through circular economy processes. Thanks to this project, the recovered plastic can be transformed into new resources, such as furniture, recycling bins, benches, signage or other useful elements.

One of the most relevant aspects of “The Room That Cleans the Sea” is precisely this continuity: the commitment does not end with the removal of waste, but continues through its reuse. In this way, the positive impact generated by Climia Hotels guests can return to the environment in the form of new sustainable solutions, strengthening the link between hotel, guest and destination.
