At Climia Hotels, sustainability is part of who we are and how we understand hospitality. For us, that means embracing efficient technologies, actively protecting natural resources, and moving towards a management model that has a positive impact on our surroundings. Everything we do is driven by a continuous process of improvement and responsibility, with one clear aim: to offer every guest a truly comfortable stay that is also respectful of the environment.
When it comes to energy efficiency, we have photovoltaic systems that allow us to harness solar power and monitor consumption in real time. This helps us reduce CO₂ emissions and achieve energy savings of between 10% and 15%. Around 80% of the hotel is already fitted with LED lighting, significantly reducing overall consumption. In our rooms, we use key cards and smart cut-off switches that turn the power off when guests leave, while in communal areas, motion-sensor lighting ensures energy is only used when it’s needed. Installing revolving doors in the lobby of Climia Belroy also improves thermal insulation and helps minimise energy loss. Alongside this, we are committed to sustainable mobility, with electric vehicle charging points under the MOVES III scheme and new fast-charging units currently being introduced.
Responsible waste management is another of our core pillars. We provide recycling points for guests in different areas of the hotel and apply an internal policy that spans every department. We recycle paper and cardboard, plastic, glass, toner cartridges, lighting equipment and batteries, and we encourage the use of returnable packaging to reduce the amount of waste generated.
Having our own on-site laundry helps us streamline processes and cut emissions linked to transportation. We also encourage the reuse of towels and bed linen through clear information displayed in our rooms, helping to reduce water and energy consumption. We’ve replaced single-use miniatures with gel and shampoo dispensers, introduced amenities in biodegradable packaging, and prioritise seasonal produce—ensuring freshness while reducing the transport footprint. At our buffet entrances, we also remind guests of the importance of responsible consumption to help minimise food waste.
Water management and conservation also play an essential role in our strategy. In the public toilets, proximity-sensor taps shut off automatically to prevent unnecessary use. In guest rooms, dual-flush cisterns (3 and 4.5 litres) help optimise day-to-day water consumption. In addition, a smart irrigation system continually adjusts the amount of water needed for our gardens, keeping them looking their best without wasting resources.

Our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint is reflected in the many green areas across the hotel, with a wide variety of plants and species that naturally help counterbalance emissions. We take part in the Bioscore certification programme, which assesses areas such as energy efficiency, waste management, responsible use of natural resources and sustainable labour practices. This work is complemented by the GreenHost project—an initiative designed to raise guest awareness about offsetting the carbon footprint generated during their travel and stay.
As part of our corporate social responsibility approach, we also maintain a strong commitment to our local community. We prioritise locally sourced products, reducing transport-related emissions and supporting nearby suppliers. Today, 80% of the products we use come from the same region, strengthening our integration into the local economy.
At Climia Hotels, we continue to move forward, introducing new solutions that bring us closer to an even more sustainable, conscious and balanced management model. All of these initiatives reduce our environmental impact and reflect our way of understanding hospitality—rooted in respect, responsibility and the constant pursuit of excellence.
